One such person is Greta Thunberg, a 16-year-old Swedish girl who started the “School Strike for Climate,” during which she and eventually 20,000 other students around the world skipped school to bring awareness to the climate crisis. Although her many speeches have rubbed some people the wrong way, her message is clear: the older generations owe it to the children of today to address the issue of human-caused climate change now. Some think she is a flash in the pan and that she’ll move on to something else, but it only 15 months Thunberg has made a big impact.

To impact or “have an impact” on something or someone is to make a difference or an impression. A tragic or exciting event can have an impact on a person or group of people in different ways. A positive impact could be motivation or inspiration to do something for the greater good, while a negative might be to cause a person or group to quit or give up.
